Places to visit in Agadir

The 7 most important places to see in Agadir

1. Agadir beach

Agadir's greatest tourist attraction lies in its splendid urban beach: a paradise of fine sands and warm, calm waters over 12 kilometers long.

This is the perfect place to relax in the sun and take a dip with the family. Activities that you can do almost all year round, thanks to the magnificent climate of the city.

And talking about activities, it is worth mentioning that the beach is also a sensational place for sports fans, so you can have a great time and meet new people playing a game of beach football or test your skills on the board in one of its surf schools.

2. Zoco El Had

The second stop on our list of things to see in Agadir is the Zoco El Had, the main market of the city and one of the largest, liveliest and most colorful in the country.

Located in the center of the city, this souk is a great place to get lost and savor the lifestyle of the locals, buy nice souvenirs or taste the delicious Moroccan food in one of its many street stalls.

By the way, if you do decide to buy, be prepared to bring out your best bargaining skills, as haggling over prices is perfectly normal in Morocco.

3. Agadir Oufella Kasbah

The Agadir Oufella Kasbah is another of those places to visit in Agadir that you will never forget.

Erected during the 16th century as a defense against possible attacks by corsairs and other enemies, this imposing walled quarter was severely damaged by a major earthquake in 1960.

Nevertheless, a visit to the Kasbah is well worth it, if only to admire the incredible views of Agadir that can be seen from its highest points. Seize the opportunity to take some pictures!

4. Medina of Agadir

The Medina of Agadir was also devastated by the earthquake that wreaked havoc in the Kasbah of the city, but as with this walled neighborhood, it is a must stop on your trip.

In fact, the medina began to be remodeled in 1992 with the initiative of the Italian architect Coco Polizzi, who was in charge of restoring all the splendor of this area.

Today, the medina (also known as Medina Polizzi, the Nouvelle Medina d'Agadir or the New Medina of Agadir) is one of the most touristic points of the city, and a must for all those who seek to admire the artistic and architectural richness of Morocco.

5. Museum of Amazigh Culture

Another of the most recommended places to visit in Agadir is the Museum of Amazigh Culture.

In it, you will discover some very interesting facts about the Berber culture and lifestyle, as well as several objects and related art pieces: decorative and architectural elements, traditional tools, manuscripts...

The entrance fee is about 20 dirhams (about 2 €) and it is open throughout the week. It also offers guided tours that further enrich the experience and some temporary exhibitions of contemporary art.

6. Vallée des Oiseaux and Croco Park

The number 6 position is double, with a couple of excellent proposals that will not leave nature and wildlife lovers indifferent.

First of all, we have the Vallée des Oiseaux (Valley of the Birds), an ideal park to rest, walk in the shade of the trees and enjoy the beautiful natural scenery offered by its lakes, waterfalls and the great variety of birds and other animalsthat populate the area. A perfect plan for the little ones of the house!

Croco Park, on the other hand, is a theme park dedicated to the conservation of crocodiles and other reptiles, where visitors can admire these great beasts in an environment that simulates their natural habitat with great accuracy.

7. Corniche and Marina of Agadir

Last on the list of things to see in Agadir are the Corniche and the Marina of Agadir. In other words, the city's seafront and its marina.

These are two of the most lively and cosmopolitan areas of Agadir, so you will not be short of stores, bars, cafes or restaurants where you can have fun and enjoy a good meal.

And all of this, with the breeze and the beautiful views that the Atlantic coast has to offer and everything you need to put the finishing touch to your getaway!
